Art and Cultural Historian/Curating Services  

  • Art Historian for the Foundation, directly involved in the research and preservation of archival material for the artist Ann Weaver Norton
  • Curate and supervise the installation of painting, sculpture and photography exhibitions. Develop unusual perspectives for seasonal exhibitions, including production of related catalogues and historical documentation
  • Conduct gallery tours and curator-led talks featuring Ann Norton, the historic home, the artist’s studio and sculpture gardens as well as the visiting exhibitions

  • Resident artist working in the Middle East, with ongoing participation in solo and group exhibitions in private and public venues
  • Conducted private and group art lessons/tutoring/workshops for adults and adolescents in art history, drawing, painting, and clothing design

Abu Dhabi Hilton and Intercontinental Hotels 1986 – 1988

  • Organized, produced and directed the annual International Fashion Event, including selection of venue, fashion, models, choreography, staging, and program design.

Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation 1986

  • Eight oil paintings depicting local scenes selected by Godfrey Thompson, British born, Cultural Advisor to the UAE, purchased by the Foundation and displayed as a part of the gallery’s permanent collection

Women in Abu Dhabi 1985 – 1988

  • Major participant in the founding of an International Women’s Association, along with the wives of the British and American Ambassadors, with the cooperation of Sheik Zayed’s (ruler of UAE) wife.  Headed the art committee and served as vice-president for a year. What started as a small determined group grew within a few years to number in the hundreds, organizing art exhibitions, foreign travel and other educational and cultural events for women, men and children in the community.

Solo exhibition, Embassy of the United States, UAE, 1982

  • Invited by the Charge d’Affaires, Patrick Theros, to display a comprehensive collection of my work at the Ambassador’s official residence in honor of the American National Day celebration

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) 1980

  • Commissioned directly by ADNOC to execute eight oil paintings of Mosques in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. These paintings were purchased and displayed at the company headquarters and were incorporated into their 1981 calendar

Fashion Designer  1967 – 1979 New York, NY

Graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology (NYC) 1966 – followed by a successful career in Fashion Design in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA

  • Specializing in knitwear, designed for dress and sportswear firms including Rina of California, Jonathan Logan, Marie Phillips, Fire Islander, Kayser-Roth Corporation, along with free lance designs for evening wear manufacturers
  • Full charge of the design room, from the original fashion renderings to the finished garment
  • Designs featured in WWD (Women’s Wear Daily) and Glamour magazine
  • Presentation windows in Macy’s and Franklin Simon Manhattan stores
